It's ridiculous the # of commercials during a race! www.cawsnjaws.com/article/253/commercial-breakdown-for-the-sony-hd-500-raceSony HD 500 Race and Commercial Breakdown of 09-03-06
Total number of commercials: 151
Total number of companies or entities advertised: 81
Start time to record race/commercial periods: 7:54 P.M. End time to record race/commercial periods: 11:58 P.M.
Total minutes: 244
Minutes of race broadcast: 171 Minutes of commercials: 73 For those of you NASCAR fans that like stats and love to hate commercials, here is the breakdown from the race on Sunday evening. I started recording the times as the Invocation for the race was given at 7:54 PM, and stopped at the conclusion of the broadcast at 11:58 PM (all times are EST). A statistic that may be surprising is the amount of time NBC gave to the post-race activities and interviews (29 uninterrupted minutes). Additionally, at 11:47 PM EST, a crawler was posted on my TV screen informing me that if I were tuning in to see the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, that it would be coming up after my local news at midnight. Should I feel guilty that I found it heartening that the post-race festivities were not pre-empted by Jerry’s kids? No lightning bolts have come through my ceiling… yet. Here is my breakdown, thoroughly unprofessional, and, hopefully, easy-to-understand.
