According to Jayski's Jon will be drivng the #21 Air Force Ford this weekend in Vegas.
Got to hold our breath, though, because he's not looked in.
In my opinion, Bill should qualify the car and Jon race it. Everyone else does it.

No Jon this wekened. All because of a stupid activity called qualifying. The #21's not locked in so Mr. Elliott will drive it. I have to admit, I like Bil, but I wanted to see Jon. NASCAR, change qualifying procedures please.

I agree they need to change procedures. Since the #21 missed Daytona, it's gonna be hard for them to get into the top 35. Elliott is third in line for the past champs provisional. Gonna be a rough season for them Keeping my fingers crossed.

here is the arcticle:
Wood skips Vegas, Sauter to run #21: Jon Wood told Mike Bagley and David Poole this morning on "The Morning Drive" (Sirius NASCAR Radio 128) that he will step aside for this weekend's Sprint Cup UAW Dodge 400 at Las Vegas. Jon feels he is not ready to drive his family's car this weekend due to lack of experience in NASCAR's new race car. He has elected to take a pass and let Johnny Sauter take the wheel. The Wood Brothers decided to put Sauter in the car because they feel he is the best qualifier that was available. Bill Elliott was unavailable for this weekend's event due to other commitments. Wood's next Sprint Cup race is scheduled to be the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowes Motor Speedway in May.(Sirius NASCAR Radio)(2-27-2008) Comment here

Jon really isn't ready for the pressure of Cup IMO. I think Johnny will do a good job qualifying the car. Just hope he doesn't wreck it during the race.

Yeah. That's what I thought when I read Sauter would drive the car.
If you going to the Sirius NASCAR site, there's an audio clip of Jon talking about giving the wheel to Johnny. I am proud of Jon though. He did what he thought would be best for him and his family. Atta boy Jon.
Let's cross our fingers that he has success in Atlanta.
